- Uses
Generic Zanaflex is prescribed for treatment of spasticity. It works by temporarily relaxing muscle tone and blocking nerve impulses sent by the brain.
- How to take
Generic Zanaflex should be taken according to your doctor's instructions and directions on the prescription label. Do not change the dosage or period of use without prior medical consult. Speak to your doctor about combining the medication with food, as it may influence the absorption of Generic Zanaflex.
- Side effects
If you experience any symptoms associated with allergies such as difficulty breathing, hives, swollen tongue etc., stop using the medication and seek urgent medical help.
Common side effects of taking Generic Zanaflex include: nausea, sleepiness, dizziness, constipation, body weakness or mouth dryness. If any of them persist or worsen, contact your doctor. Do not stand up rapidly to avoid dizziness.
Contact a medical specialist immediately if you experience any of the following: jaundice, stomach pain, vomit, hallucinations, vision or hearing problems, increased or painful urination, slowed or uneven heartbeat, black-colored stools.

Notify your doctor before taking Generic Zanaflex if you have any of the following: allergies, low blood pressure, liver disease, kidney disease, heart disorders or eye problems. Combining the medication with alcohol may increase its sleepy effect. Pregnant and breast-feeding women should use this medication only if clearly needed and after a medical consult. Elderly patients should use Generic Zanaflex with caution. Avoid driving or engaging in any other activity that requires alertness after taking Generic Zanaflex.
- Drug interactions
Notify your medical specialist about all other medications you are taking, including non-prescription medications, dietary supplements and herbal products, especially: blood pressure drugs (water pills, clonidine, methyldopa, guanabenz, guanfacine, etc.); MAO inhibitors (linezolid, furazolidone, phenelzine, selegiline, etc.); sleeping pills or sedatives (diazepam); tranquilizers, anti-anxiety drugs or narcotic pain relievers (codeine, morphine, etc.); barbiturates (phenobarbital); antihistamines (diphenhydramine); muscle relaxants (e.g., cyclobenzaprine), antidepressants (imipramine, amitriptyline, trazodone, etc.), phenothiazine psychiatric drugs (e.g., chlorpromazine) and birth control pills.
Do not take any medications without prior medical consult. - Missed dose
If you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the dose you have missed.
- Storage
Generic Zanaflex should be stored between 59°F and 86°F (15°C and 30°C) away from light and moisture, out of reach of children and pets.
