- Uses
By increasing the blood flow to male genitalia and relaxing the adjacent muscle tissue, Cialis can significantly improve the erectile function. It has three times the effect of other similar treatments and can also be used to treat BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia) and some heart conditions. Consult a doctor before using Cialis for purposes other than ED treatment.
- How to take
Cialis should be taken 20 to 60 minutes before an intercourse. If you are only starting with this medication, it is not recommended to take more than 10mg. Do not take Cialis more than once per day.
- Side effects
If you experience any symptoms associated with allergies such as difficulty breathing, hives, swollen tongue etc., stop using the medication and seek urgent medical help.
Contact your medical specialist immediately if you experience any of the following: vision or hearing problems; pain in the chest, arm or shoulder; nausea and sweating; uneven heartbeat; shortness of breath; swollen feet or hands; seizures; loss of consciousness; more than 4-hour, painful erection.
Common side effects of using Cialis include: red or warmer face, neck and chest; mild memory loss; headaches; stomach problems; muscle or back pain; cold symptoms.
Note that this list does not include all possible side effects. Other side effects might occur depending on individual health conditions. - Precautions
Avoid combining Cialis with alcohol as it may increase the probability of side effects. Grapefruit may also interact with Cialis and increase the probability of side effects.
Do not take Cialis with other ED treatment medications such as Viagra or Levitra - Drug interactions
Notify your medical specialist of all medications you have been or are using before taking Cialis, especially imatinib (Gleevec), isoniazid, conivaptan (Vaprisol), rifabutin (Mycobutin), nefazodone, rifapentine (Priftin) or rifampin (Rifadin, Rifater, Rimactane Rifamate); antibiotics such as erythromycin (E.E.S., EryPed, Ery-Tab, Pediazole), telithromycin (Ketek) or clarithromycin (Biaxin), antifungal medications e.g. ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), posaconazole (Noxafil), miconazole (Oravig)or voriconazole (Vfend); barbiturates e.g. phenobarbital (Solfoton); antidepressants like nefazodone; high blood pressure or a prostate disorder medications, such as alfuzosin (Uroxatral), prazosin (Minipress), doxazosin (Cardura), silodosin (Rapaflo), terazosin (Hytrin) or tamsulosin (Flomax, Jalyn); heart medications such as amlodipine (Norvasc, Lotrel, Exforge, Caduet, Tekamlo, Twynsta, Tribenzor, Amturnide), diltiazem (Cardizem, Diltia, Dilacor, Cartia, Taztia, Diltzac, Tiazac), enalapril (Vasotec), nifedipine (Nifedical, Procardia), nicardipine (Cardene), quinidine (Quin-G), verapamil (Calan, Verelan, , Isoptin, Tarka Covera); HIV or AIDS treatment medications such as darunavir (Prezista), efavirenz (Sustiva), atazanavir (Reyataz), delavirdine (Rescriptor) etravirine (Intelence), fosamprenavir (Lexiva), nevirapine (Viramune), indinavir (Crixivan), nelfinavir (Viracept), ritonavir (Norvir, Kaletra), or saquinavir (Invirase); medications to fight seizures such as carbamazepine (Carbatrol, Equetro, Tegretol) and phenytoin (Dilantin).
- Missed dose
As Cialis is not taken on a regular basis, missed dose regulations do not apply. However, avoid exceeding the prescribed dose and taking two doses within a 24-hour period.
- Storage
Store Cialis at room temperature between 59°F and 86°F (15°C and 30°C) away from moisture and sunlight, out of reach of children and pets.
