Amoxicillin (Generic)

Amoxicillin is mainly used for bacteria-induced infections as it can effectively target and prevent the spreading of pathogens. It offers urgent relief for ear, nose, throat and skin infections, as well as bladder. Also effective to treat E. coli and gonorrhea salmonella infections.Other uses include pneumonia, Lyme disease and chlamydia caused diseases.

Amoxicillin can be used in parallel with clarithromycin to treat the cases of stomach ulcer and helicobacter pylori infections.

Always consult a doctor before using Amoxicillin. Avoid self-diagnosing.

Amoxicillin should be taken in strict compliance with your doctor's instructions and directions on the prescription label. Do not alter dosage or the prescribed period of use without prior medical consult. Amoxicillin should be swallowed without chewing or crushing, during a meal or otherwise.

Familiarize yourself with the ingredients of Amoxicillin before use to make sure none of them will cause an allergic reaction.

In case any symptoms of an allergic reaction are experienced after you started taking the medication, stop the course and seek medical attention immediately.

Common side effects of Amoxicillin include itching, nausea and vomiting, stomach pains, digestion disorders, headache, and swelling and loss of color of the tongue.

Contact a medical specialist immediately if you experience any of the following: jaundice, lesions or sores on the inner side of your mouth, high body temperature, swollen glands, bleeding rectum, vagina, nose or mouth, increased bruising, muscle weakness, tingling or numb sensation, severe blisters, peeling or skin rash.

Patients allergic to penicillin or penicillin based medications should avoid taking Amoxicillin. Notify your medical professional prior to starting the course if you suffer from or have a history of any of the following: asthma, mononucleosis, liver or kidney disease. Consult your doctor if your reaction to antibiotics include diarrhea.

Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a medical specialist prior to taking the medication as Generic Amoxicillin has the ability to pass into breast milk.

Note that Generic Amoxicillin is able to reduce the effectiveness of your birth control pill.

Notify your medical specialist of any prescription or non-prescription drugs you have been taking before taking Generic Amoxicillin. Pay particular attention to blood thinners and other medications such as probenecid, azithromycin, clarithromycin, telithromycin, erythromycin, sulfa based medications and those containing tetracycline.

As Generic Amoxicillin can interfere with the efficiency of your hormonal birth control pill (such as rifampin or rifabutin), it might be advisable to convert to alternative birth control means on prior medical consult.

If you have missed your dose of Generic Amoxicillin, make sure to take it as soon as possible. However, two doses should never be taken at the same time, so if the time for the next dose has almost come, DO NOT take the dose you have missed.

Store Generic Amoxicillin in a closed container, at room temperature between 59°F and 86°F (15°C and 30°C) away from light. Avoid storage at excessively high or low temperatures. Do not keep this medication in a bathroom cabinet. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
