Crestor (Generic)

Generic Crestor is prescribed to lower LDL cholesterol levels and triglycerides and increase the production of HDL. When combined with diet and exercise, it can lower blood cholesterol levels by 52%.

Lower cholesterol, in turn, is a way to prevent heart and blood problems, as well as vascular disease, slow down the progress of atherosclerosis and decrease the buildup of plaque in arteries.

Other uses of this medication are possible.

Generic Crestor should be taken in strict compliance with your doctor's instructions and directions on the prescription label.

The medication is administered orally during meals or otherwise, preferably at a predefined time on a regular basis.

If you experience any symptoms associated with allergies such as difficulty breathing, hives, swollen tongue etc., stop using the medication and seek urgent medical help.

Stop taking the medication and seek urgent medical help if you have any of the following side effects: muscle pain, weakness or tenderness; memory loss; fatigue; high temperature; dark color of urine and urination irregularities, clay-colored stools; weight fluctuations; thirst and hunger; dry mouth; sleepiness; fruity breath; sight problems; nausea; pain in the upper stomach; itching sensation; no appetite; yellow-colored skin and eyes.

Common side effects of taking Generic Crestor include: headache, depression, slight muscle or joint pain, insomnia, troubled sleep, digestion problems, stomach pain, nausea.

Note that this list does not include all possible side effects. Other side effects might occur depending on individual health conditions.

As antacids can impede absorption of Crestor, avoid taking them without medical consult and within two hours after taking Generic Crestor.

Follow a low-cholesterol diet, avoiding foods rich in fat or cholesterol and alcohol. Consumption of alcohol can increase the probability of liver damage.

Notify your medical specialist of any prescription or non-prescription drugs you have been taking before using Generic Crestor, especially: birth control pills; blood thinners such as warfarin (Coumadin or Jantoven); cimetidine (Tagamet); spironolactone (Aldactone, Aldactazide); niacin (Niaspan, Advicor, Niacor, Slo Niacin, Simcor, etc.) and other statin drugs such as lovastatin (Altoprev, Mevacor),fluvastatin (Lescol), atorvastatin (Lipitor, Caduet), simvastatin (Zocor, Vytorin) or pravastatin (Pravachol).

Other medications may interact with Generic Crestor as well.

If you have missed your dose of Generic Crestor, make sure to take it as soon as possible. However, two doses should never be taken at the same time, so if the time for the next dose has almost come, DO NOT take the dose you have missed.

Generic Crestor can be stored at 59°F - 86°F (15°C - 30°C), although the ideal temperature is 77°F (25°C). Store in a tightly closed container away from light, heat and moisture, out of reach of children and pets. Provide safe disposal after use.
