Deltasone (Generic)
Generic Deltasone (Prednisone) belongs to the class of corticosteroid hormones. It can stifle the reactions of the immune system to various diseases and thus fights their symptoms such as allergic reactions, swelling, etc. Generic Deltasone does not have a drowsy effect and provides quick relief from chronic and seasonal allergies.
The medication is also marketed as Ancortone, Prednisolone, Prednisone and Nosipren.

- Uses
Deltasone is most commonly prescribed to treat blood and breathing problems; certain types of cancer; arthritis; eye, immune system and skin diseases.
- How to take
Generic Deltasone should be taken in strict compliance with your doctor's instructions and directions on the prescription label. Do not alter dosage or the prescribed period of use without prior medical consult.
Generic Deltasone is administered orally, preferably during meals to prevent digestion problems. If you are prescribed only one dose a day, it is advisable to take it in the morning. - Side effects
If you experience any symptoms associated with allergies (highly unlikely) such as difficulty breathing, hives, swollen tongue etc., stop using the medication and seek urgent medical help.
Common side effects of using Generic Deltasone include upset stomach, dizziness, headache, troubled sleeping or weight gain. Notify your doctor if any of the abovementioned effects persist.
Contact your medical specialist immediately if you experience any of the following: black stools, coffee-ground vomit, fractures, bruising/bleeding, heartburn, stronger thirst and more frequent urination, uneven heartbeat, menstrual irregularities, muscle pain or weakness, face puffiness, seizures, infection symptoms such as fever, non-healing wounds, stomach pain, swollen feet or ankles; difficulty breathing; unusual hair and skin growth, sight problems. - Precautions
Notify your doctor if you have allergies or any of the following conditions: bleeding problems, blood clots, osteoporosis, certain nerve/muscle disease, diabetes, eye diseases (e.g., ocular herpes infection, glaucoma), heart problems (congestive heart failure), kidney disease, high blood pressure, mental conditions, other infections (e.g., threadworm, tuberculosis), severe liver disease (cirrhosis), intestinal problems (e.g., ulcer, diverticulitis, ulcerative colitis) or underactive thyroid.
Taking Generic Deltasone may hide the signs of an infection or lead to development of a more serious infection. Always notify your doctor if you have developed any symptoms of an infection during treatment. If you are suffering from major stress, injury or surgery, your dosage may have to be revised upwards. Tell your doctor if you start suffering from any of the following side effects while under stress: unusual weakness, sudden weight loss or dizziness. Avoid contact with patients suffering from chickenpox or measles. Patients with a history of ulcers or those taking large doses of aspirin or other arthritis medications should notify their doctors and limit their consumption of alcohol, as taking Generic Deltasone in such cases may increase the risk of stomach/intestinal bleeding. In patients with diabetes, Generic Deltasone may increase blood sugar levels. To prevent it, take your blood sugar level frequently and report any irregularities. As taking Generic Deltasone may lead to dizziness, do not engage into activities that require mental alertness. Do not take Generic Deltasone if you are pregnant and consult your doctor if you are breastfeeding, as Generic Deltasone may pass into milk. - Drug interactions
Avoid combining Generic Deltasone with Aldesleukin or Mifepristone. Notify your doctor before starting the course of any medications you are taking, especially: aspiring and similar medications, birth control, blood thinners, NSAIDS, estrogens, medications to lower blood potassium levels, drugs affecting certain liver enzymes such as azole antifungals, macrolide antibiotics and rifamycins. Do not take any vaccinations, skin tests or immunizations unless directly prescribed by your doctor. Patients can continue taking small doses of aspiring prescribed to prevent heart attacks and strokes. Dot not start or end the course of Generic Deltasone without prior medical consult.
- Missed dose
If you have missed your dose of Generic Deltasone, make sure to take it as soon as possible. However, two doses should never be taken at the same time, so if the time for the next dose has almost come, DO NOT take the dose you have missed. Contact your doctor for further instructions.
- Storage
Generic Deltasone should be stored at room temperature between 59°F and 86°F (15°C and 30°C) away from moisture and light, out of reach of children and pets.
