Cefaclor

Cefaclor is classified as a cephalosporin antibiotic. Made to treat various bacterial contaminations in the body, Cefaclor is often prescribed to treat pneumonia, as well as throat, lung, ear, skin and urinary tract infections.

Contact your doctor for the precise instructions that apply to you. Take Cefaclor with a full glass of water. It is recommended to take this medication with food, within 30 minutes of the meal.

Cefaclor is made to treat bacterial infections, and will not aid in viral infection including cold or flu. Do not stop taking this medication without first speaking to your doctor, as suddenly halting treatment may worsen your condition.

Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of the following side-effects associated with an allergic reaction: hives, shortness of breath, swelling of the lips, tongue, throat or face.

The following are serious side-effects associated with Generic Cefaclor. Immediately contact a medical professional if you experience any of the following conditions:

• easy bruising or bleeding, severe tingling, numbness, pain, muscle weakness; bloody or watery diarrhea; convulsions or seizures; unusual bleeding; jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes); discolored or darker urine, fever, disorientation or weakness; fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms, swollen glands, rash or itching, joint pain, or general ill feeling; increased thirst, loss of appetite, swelling, weight gain, feeling short of breath, urinating less than usual or not at all; or sore throat, and headache with a severe blistering, peeling, and red skin rash.

Less urgent side-effects associated with Cefaclor:

• muscle stiffness or tightness, mild dizziness, dry mouth, unusual taste in the mouth, upset stomach, nausea, mild diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, fatigue, headache, hyperactivity, mild skin rash or itching or the skin, or vaginal discharge.

Before taking Generic Cefaclor, consult your doctor if you have a history of any of the following medical conditions:
kidney disease, liver problems, or intestinal problems such as colitis.

Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or plan on becoming pregnant before taking this medication.

Before taking Cefaclor, inform your doctor if you are allergic to penicillins.

Do not take Cefaclor if you are allergic to cephalosporin antibiotics including:
Cefaclor; cefadroxil (Duricef); cefazolin (Ancef); ceftibuten (Cedax); cefuroxime (Ceftin); cefpodoxime (Vantin); cefprozil (Cefzil); cefdinir (Omnicef); cefditoren (Spectracef); cephalexin (Keflex); or cephradine (Velosef); and others.

Consult your doctor if you are taking any of the medications listed below before starting to take Cefaclor:
blood thinners such as warfarin (Coumadin), or probenecid.

Always inform your doctor of any medications you are taking (including vitamins and herbal supplements) before embarking on a new treatment. Additional medications not listen here may interact negatively with your medication.

Do not take more than your recommended dosage. Take missed doses as soon as you remember unless it is nearly time for your next treatment.

Keep medication in a cool, dry place away from heat and moisture. Dispose of any unused medication past the point of expiry. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
